No sudden deposits

Large sums just before the application raise questions – explain them.

Consistent dates

The form, invitation and reservation must show the same dates.

Prove the return

Ties at home weigh more heavily than your income as a sponsor.

First visit short

A first visit of a few weeks is easier to approve than 90 days.

FAQ

Questions about family visits

Do I need a minimum income as a sponsor?

You must be able to cover the costs of the visit. The embassy looks at your income, your household and how long the visit lasts.

Can my parents stay for 90 days?

Yes, if the visa allows it. Many first-time visitors receive a visa for the exact dates of their trip.

Can my parents stay with me permanently?

A short-stay visa is for visits only. Parents can rarely move to the Netherlands – only in exceptional cases of dependence.

Can I submit the visa application for my parents?

The application is made in the country of residence of your guest, but you prepare the sponsor form and invitation.
